HORSES, REVISITED

After visiting that cheeky--get it? Cheeky?--horse yesterday I took Hollywood, my grandchild to see the horses today. We went bearing gifts. Carrots and apples.
She wanted to feed the horses. But they are so big. She is so little. They were scary."What 'cha got in that there bag? Apples? You got apples for me, huh, huh, huh? And carrots? I love carrots. Yup, yup, I do, yes sir-eee.""Grandma, he's going to get me.""And this one too.""Just throw the food to them," I told her.So she did. The horses loved it. Next time we will be more brave, won't we?"Hollywood wasn't sure she would be brave next time. In fact she put her coat on her head, just in case."Uh huh, next time you will be brave." This horse kept nodding his head, "yes." Over and over he nodded "yes."So we went home and Hollywood rode one of the trikes. It was warmer by then.
"Oh, Grandma, it was such hard work, feeding those horses. Can we go again, huh, huh, huh?"
Yes we can.

My patience has paid off, and I get to see your blog before bed! I love the head-on shot of the horse and your silly pun. I love all the shots of your beautiful granddaughter and your excellent captions. I agree with her! How can they tell the difference between a finger and a carrot or a palm and an apple??

What fun! She is a doll, and I don't blame her a bit for being a little nervous and just tossing the food!

What great memories you are giving your grandchildren! You are so creative in the things you do with them. You are making an indelible footprint not only in their minds but who you are will be ingrained deeply into their souls forever.

Horses are so very gentle. There is nothing like those lips brushing your palm. Just tell Hollywood that I said so.

Another gorgeous grandchild---again---so jealous...

Love horses---I grew up with them---and a mean shetland pony that used to knock me down to the ground---but thats another story.

Good grief. I am not even remotely close to being 1st. The nerve. That girl should be in Hollywood. She is a star.

I would be nervous of those horses too.

If horses get boring, you can bring her to my house. There is an emu behind my house. And sometimes a llama lives there, too. Right in the middle of town. How odd.
