RICH WOMEN DON'T BLOG

They don't have time: They have gigantic houses to clean. They have beautiful decorations for every season to put out, dust, monitor and keep the kids/grandkids away from and then put away after the holiday is over. They have "help" to watch over and pay. They have magazines to peruse so they will be in the top of the fashion game. They have to shop to procure the latest fashion. They have to go to the gym so they can fit into the latest fashion. They have to spend lots of time in the beauty salon getting their hair "foiled" or whatever they call it now. They have to go to Costco several times a week to buy pre-prepared meals and fresh spinach and strawberries so they can make an impressive salad to go with the pre-prepared meals. They have to volunteer at their kids exclusive private school so their kids will be admitted to Haaaarvaard when the time comes. They also sometimes run corporations and wear suits and high heels on a weekday. They are frustrated because they have so many things to do and so they work harder, helping their husbands make more money or making it themselves so they can buy a summer home and a winter one, too and then they have to work some more to afford the insurance and it takes a lot of energy to furnish those houses, too. And they have to be re-furnished often as styles change in the architectural magazines she reads. They have no time to spend in those summer/winter houses because they are planning a cruise with friends they really don't like but they network with so their business can grow or because they will be a good contact for the kids to find an impressive job with once they have gone to Harvard and gotten their Master's degree. There is no time for blogging.

While the average blogger has three or seven kids, a mortgage she can't afford so she runs an Etsy shop on the side and swaps babysitting with the neighbor that she's not totally fond of, but needs some alone time to make jewelry, so she puts up with her. She also is kind to her bratty kids, when it's her turn to tend. She blogs because she wants to give back to the world and also because she needs friends that she really doesn't have time for. She is lucky to read any magazine and does so while waiting in line at the grocery store and it's usually the one that says, "loose 42 pounds by summer." She is frantically trying to find the article when the checker is finished scanning her items but she puts the magazine back because it's too much money. She'll have to be fat by summer. She scrapes her hair back in a pony tail because she can't--or won't--spend the money to have it styled. She would walk through fire for her kids but won't take a half hour for herself on the treadmill. She's collapsed in front of the TV, watching someone on the Food Channel make food out of ingredients she doesn't have on hand and won't buy because she will never use it again. She is frustrated because she has so many things to do so she blogs.

I could very much relate to scraping my hair in a ponytail and reading the magazines at the checkstand. I was at the checkstand the other day, and there was an article in Time on "America's New Frugality," and I was dying for the article, but I didn't want so spend 4.95, so how's that for a new frugality?

You also make me feel better about not being rich. Also if I were rich maybe I wouldn't get to be soo close to my family all the time because we'd have too many rooms. I could do with less Tuna Helper though.

xo from your tired buddy in Utah

um, I really just typed that. I mean CA

I love this blog, it was very creative and imaginative, to know so well the rich and not yet be one. It is exactly what I think of when I think of rich moms, (though I don't know any very personally) and would probably be unfair of me. Plus, would I really want that lifestyle it sounds completely stressful and too full of expectations. I should be grateful I'm just an average individual, who has my failings and won't try and compare.

I am too rich to blog so I have one of my staff do it for me. I don't shop at Costco because I have someone to shop and do all that nasty dusting. That is if we have dust. i have never seen it.
You really should increase the size of your staff.

ps. What is Costco?

I guess that I don't fit into any category....do you have the "hard-working, living hand to mouth, but try to get things on sale and cut and style their own hair, and exercise 4 times a week, and still try to use her talents, but find blogging a fun outlet and have met amazing people through it" category?

Heh, heh---great insight...

Very thought provoking. You have such insight into human nature.

ha, this was so true. We have no time, so we blog. I loved the part about the neighbor. I thought I was the only one who thought that way. Haha.

By my nearly daily posts, it's obvious which one I am. Heeheehee! Of course, I trade art lesson with the neighbor for piano lessons. Thankfully her kids aren't brats and neither are mine. I do my jewelry and etsy stuff at night. You soooo have me pegged.
