BEFORE AND AFTER--RHUBARB BLISS

Yesterday the grandkids picked rhubarb. Some of them made hats and then... ...the rhubarb was peeled and salted and they had their first bite.
They loved it. They loved it so much they had more.
" Oh, my. This is so good we can hardly stand it."
So they had some more.
Yes, those girls ate a whole piece, bit by bit.
A younger grandchild had some.

"Humm. Not bad."
" Yup, actually it's pretty darn good."
This youngster knows how delicious rhubarb really is.

Yes indeed. Rhubarb, the fruit of the Gods.

PS Remind me to teach you how to make rhubarb fruit leather. It's fantastic. Really, it is.

Wow, I LOVE the facial expressions. You can just tell how tart it is. And I love the widdle Roo face too. You take the greatest pictures. I would be jealous if I didn't love you so much. Well, maybe I'm jealous anyway.

I'm so sorry the comment thingy didn't work, I had that happen to me once and the person wanted me to re-write what I'd written.

Ugh! Couldn't do it. Life!

No worries, I appreciate your comments always and enjoy your blog, photos, etc., here too.

Your granddaughters are so creative! I used to love my Grammy's rhubarb pies, but my sister and I never once thought about making hats out of the leaves.

Also; I can't believe that your rhubarb is so big so early in the year.

Wow! What a dramatic difference on their faces. So fun! I have never eaten Rhubarb (I'm not ever sure how to spell it!)

fun! I love the expressions on their faces!!! My husband doesn't care for rhubarb, either, which makes me think it helps if you've been raised with it. maybe grapefruit juice for your taste-testers tomorrow???

Ewwww---I think that I agree with the older girls----sour and bitter!

I haven't tasted it as fruit leather---maybe its better, hm?

I never had it with just salt. Mostly with strawberries and LOTS of sugar in a pie. I see I'll have to expand my horizans.
