IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT

We belong to Net Flix and if we are really on the ball, watching movies quick enough and getting them back in the mail the next morning, we get two movies a week.

This week it was my choice and I had ordered IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT, with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. It's an old black and white--filmed in 1934, and I loved it--so romantic, so clean and funny and gave the most interesting look into life way back when, before we were born.

After it was over I said, "That was really cute, wasn't it?"

"All except for Clark Gable," Phil said. "I don't like Clark Gable."

"You don't? Why ever not?"

"His upper lip curls."

"What?" I couldn't believe he really said that.

"His upper lip curls."

And so, there you have it. Movie reviews based on the curling or not-curling of the upper lip. Be sure and watch out for it when you are renting movies.

This Movie Renting Tip brought to you by Phil, Mr. Sensitive who rates movies by people's facial peculiarities.

LOL! That is soooooo funny! I happened to catch that same movie On Demand not too long ago. Had never seen it -- I thought I had seen ALL of Clark's movies. Unlike Phil, I am partial to his curled upper lip. I was a very young girl when I fell in love with him (Clark, not Phil). He made my heart beat wildly. I swooned. Now he was a MAN, not, as Arnold would say, a girlie man.

Here is a did you know: Did you know Bugs Bunny's nonchalant carrot-chewing was based on the scene where Clark Gable's character leans against a fence, eating carrots rapidly and talking with his mouth full to Claudette Colbert's character? Watch it again and you will see Bugs.

Don't think I've seen that one. Our cable company changed our AMC channel from 41 to 199 so it is not down there where we regularly channel surf, so I don't see as many of the old movies as I used to. Stupid cable company.

Oh my gosh, that is funny! I guess that's as good a criteria as any...

Lynne, I have a question about the powdered soymilk you use in your Swedish Pancake recipe...I'm looking for powdered soymilk to take with us to Africa and haven't found any in stores (I've seen some online). Can you recommend a brand? Thank you!
