A WONDERFUL MAN DIED LAST NIGHT

Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, died December 1, 2008

Young Joseph and his sisters. Joseph and Elisa on their Wedding day.

Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin died last night. He was 91. Here is his last conference talk, "Come What May, And Love it." Here it is in written form. Even if you are not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormon Church) you will enjoy this talk. He give great advice, some good laughs and gives us some insights to how to handle life when it doesn't go like we've planned.

He was one of my favorite General Authorities of the Church. He will be missed.

Here is the link where you can read or listen to conference talks in many languages, from Amharic to Korean.

What wonderful words to honour a wonderful man.

What more could anyone ask for but to have made a difference in other people's lives?

I loved Elder Wirthlin's last conference talk. Thanks for your post and the links. We all need more laughter in our lives. On TV yesterday, one of his children said that sometimes Elder and Sister Wirthlin would just look at each other and they would simultaneously burst out in laughter.

The night I first started to fall in love with Randy, he had kept me laughing all the way through dinner. When Randy was healthy, sometimes before going to sleep, we would lie in bed and just laugh. This is what is wrong with my life now; laughter has left my heart. The only time I ever laugh at all any more is when I read some of your very humorous blogs. Thanks, Lynne.

Can I ask you a question... it may seem dumb to some but I know little to nothing about the mormon church...gee how do I ask what I want to with out either seeming totally unintelligent or insulting ... of which neither is my intent... just curious / interested in learning ... ok back to the question... what is mormon? how is it different from methodist or baptest ?
thanks Laura
